How to draw names for Secret Santa online

      Add the names

Type everyone who's playing, including yourself. Paste a whole list if you have one.

      Set the details

Pick a spending limit and the exchange date, and add a note about where to bring the gifts.

      Keep couples apart

Add a rule for anyone who shouldn't draw each other, like partners or roommates.

      Send the links

Text, WhatsApp or email each person their own link. They tap it, unwrap a gift and see who they're buying for.

How much should you spend on Secret Santa?

      Group Typical limit What works
Office or coworkers $15 to $30 Something useful with their name on it, like a mug or a Santa hat
Friends $20 to $40 A small gift that shows you know them: their pet, their initials, a shared joke
Family $25 to $50 Keepsakes with a photo or name, like a stocking or a photo lamp
Close family or couples $50 and up Something one of a kind, like a custom bobblehead made from their photo

Pick one number everyone can afford and put it on the invite. The generator shows the limit on every person's card, so nobody overspends or turns up with a $5 gift.

Secret Santa rules that keep it fun

      1. Draw early. Two to three weeks before the exchange gives everyone time to order something personal.
      2. Keep it secret. Don't post your match in the group chat, even as a joke.
      3. Stick to the limit. Going far over can make others feel bad about their gift.
      4. Make it personal. A gift with their name, their pet or a photo beats another candle.
      5. Reveal together. Open gifts one at a time and let people guess who their Santa was.

      Questions

Is this Secret Santa generator free?

Yes. No sign-up, no fees and no limit on draws.

Do the players need an email address or an app?

No. Each person gets a link that opens in any phone or computer browser. You can send it by text message, WhatsApp, email or any chat app.

      Can the organizer play too?

Yes. The organizer only sees the links, not who drew whom. Each link shows its owner's match after they confirm their name, so just don't open other people's links.

How do I keep couples from drawing each other?

In step 3, pick the two names and tap "Add rule". Neither of them will draw the other. You can add as many rules as you like, as long as a fair draw is still possible.

Someone lost their link. What now?

Open this page again on the same phone or computer you used to draw. Your draw is saved there, so you can resend that person's link without drawing again.

How much should you spend on Secret Santa?

Common limits are $15 to $30 for coworkers, $20 to $40 for friends, $25 to $50 for family, and $50 and up for close family or couples. Pick one number everyone can afford.

      How many people can play?

Anywhere from 3 to 60 people per draw.

      Where are our names stored?

Only on the organizer's device and inside each person's link. We don't keep a list of names or send any messages for you.
